Shore Song Search Top 20!

Redbird was named one of the top 20 artists in the Shore 104.3 Song Search contest!  We’re honoured to be listed beside our good friends Portage and Main, The Sumner Brothers, Steph Macpherson, and tons of other great BC artists!

The song we submitted was our new recording of “Oh Please My Heart”, and while it’s not available for sale yet, you can stream it now at our band camp!

I decided to add a page on the site here for lyrics for the songs from the upcoming EP, and perhaps for unreleased songs or other musings as well.

The first entry is the only song we really have out in the world right now, Oh Please My Heart.

I’m considering adding chord changes to these as well in case anyone would like to know how to play the songs…leave a comment if that interests you perhaps!

EP Recording begins…

So the other day John, Jer, Ben and I made our way to the legendary Mushroom studios to begin working on the 5 songs that will become Redbird’s debut EP. With Dr.Boss (aka Shawn Cole) at the helm I had full confidence that things would come out sounding amazing. The recording process is always a challenging one – trying to dig into the places and emotions that the songs originated from, to give them their due justice, can definitely be draining. The past 6 months have seen some major changes with the band, the music, and life in general, and this EP will be a milestone of it all!

We are all so excited to share it with you – release will be early Spring 2011, make sure to keep in touch to get all the details.

The FaderMaster Mo-Off Spectacular!

We are so excited about this show – not only is it our first time hitting the stage of the amazing Biltmore cabaret, but it’s going to be a ridiculously fun night, for a good cause too!

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 30th, 8:00PM
@ the BILTMORE CABARET

It’s the FaderMaster Mo-Off Spectacular, in support of 100.5 the PEAK’s Movember team! You don’t need to have a ‘stash – you could just like them. Or like laughing at them. The night will be hosted by James Sutton and Cory Ashworth from 100.5 the PEAK, and we’ll be joined by performances from
City of Glass, the Never Surprise, and Fisticuffs (Jordan Kurtz of Treelines).

There will be prizes for the best ‘stash, and when all is said and done there will be ladies with razors ready to help rid the mustachio-d of their itchy lip-neighbours!

Door will be by a suggested minimum donation of $5, proceeds going to 100.5 the PEAK’s Movember team to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer.

November Shows!

Hello friends,

We are happy to say that while November brings chilly air and darker days, it also brings Redbird to the stage for several occasions!

• First is our old fave, the Railway Club on November 7th
• Then Savannah and John will be playing a stripped down set at the Main with our Friend Darren Frank (of Yes Nice) on November 25th
• And finally, with an exciting line-up to be announced shortly, we will make our Biltmore debut on November 30th.

You have so many chances – we can’t wait to see you at one (or many!) of these shows and share all the new music that is being created!

Our friends at Amazing Factory Productions have teamed up with Vancouver Is Awesome to create Giants of the Forest – a website dedicated to sharing live videos from West Coast artists. We were honoured when they asked us to film “Oh Please My Heart” as their debut video – and are very happy to share it with you now!

So here is a fancy new website I made us…kind of bare bones for now, until I have some more to offer you! Mainly that would be music. I promise you I’m working on it…writing lots of new music and having fun playing with lots of amazing musicians. Once it’s all ready I’ll be hitting the studio to give you some audio love.
